(ROCKPORT,
January 24, 2000) A Mid-Coast Wrestling Club sponsored
fund raiser at last weekend's Camden Hills tri meet with
Medomak Valley and Mountain Valley raised $130 to contribute
towards the Stephen Michaud Fund. MCWC's membership
agreed yesterday to donate another $70 bringing the total
contribution to $200.
On December 19,
2001, Stephen Michaud, a fellow "mid-coast"
wrestler hailing from Medomak Valley, fractured his
vertebrae and was partially paralyzed while wrestling in a
dual meet against Lincoln Academy. The injury required
surgery. He is now recovering at Eastern Maine Medical
Center in Bangor. He will be there for several months and
his family has been there with him since the accident.
Stephen has some use of his arms and hands, but no movement
in the lower extremities.
Medomak Valley
High School's athletic department, the Maine Amateur
Wrestling Association (MAWA), and booster clubs and
wrestlers around the state have been trying to raise funds
to help the family with expenses during this very difficult
time.
Additional funds
are required and would be greatly appreciated. Please
make checks out to The
Stephen Michaud Fund and send them to:
